Current Status: July 2016

Sadly, I’m not as far along as I’d hoped to be. Real life events in the last couple weeks have sucked away a lot of my free time and left me in a mood that hasn’t been terribly conducive to writing this type on material. On the plus side, the weeks leading up to them were quite the opposite. While my original plan was for a quick update that would conclude the rest of the first week (before I started digging into the complicated system that will make up the bulk of the game), I ended up getting completely carried away with ideas and just kept writing. My current plan is to finish Day 4 and do a new release.

Doing a check on the word count, what I have now for Day 4, the additional Day 1 events and other miscellaneous stuff will roughly double the size of what was in the initial release. (I’m not sure how noticeable it will be, though, since a lot of it is contained in decision-based branches.)

As an FYI, my basic process looks a bit like this:
Step 1: Planning
Step 2: Writing
Step 3: Basic scripting (putting story segments into the engine and making sure everything branches properly)
Step 4: Graphics scripting (putting in the background changes and character sprites)
Step 5: Art (creating any new artwork needed by the new scenes)
Step 6: Special graphics scripting (putting the new artwork into the engine and displaying them in their respective scenes)

I’m currently knee-deep in Step 3, getting tens of thousands of words of story content into the engine. Thankfully “past me” was kind enough to write detailed notes so that “present me” isn’t completely lost as to how all of these scenes fit together.

• Revisited the Day 1 masturbation scene and fleshed it out (this was always intended to be there, but was skipped over in the interest of getting something playable out sooner). About 13 versions plus their minor variations.
• Wrote all but a couple of evening events for Day 4.
• Starting writing a series of miscellaneous scenes (things like watching television or wandering around the hotel).
• Did about half of a complex evening masturbation scene (that depends on a number of choices from the beginning of the day).
• Started inserting text for new scenes into the engine, and getting the jumps scripted. Basic scripting for the morning events (the biggest monster of the bunch) has been completed, but not tested.
