Update: September 2021

So it’s been a little while since the big overhaul of the game was released to the public, and, unsurprisingly, I’ve had quite a few bug reports. I’ve been attempting to tackle some of them for the next release.

Clinic Update

I felt the most pressing was probably the clinic, which wasn’t touched by the overhaul at all, and, as people discovered, the elimination of many of the old game variables was keeping it from functioning. While there’s a lot of weirdness in the overall structure of the clinic that I’m not going to touch just yet, I did think it was a good idea to get the individual events updated to the style of the others. It should (hopefully) make them compatible with the rest of the game, and get all the scene information in a standardized location where they’ll be easier to find.

Scene Criteria Revisions

A big part of the overhaul was to get all of the scenes in the game to share a standard where I could clearly specify any characters who are involved, if the PC should be wearing swimwear, and the priority of the scene (to help determine which is the more important one to play if more than one scene is available).

In a second area, I have all of the criteria for each of these scenes. (These should ultimately be combined into a single scene definition sometime in the future, but I feel this is a reasonable intermediate step.) While I managed to get all of these organized in the overhaul, I didn’t really revisit the actual contents.

As a result of that, people are reporting that they’re getting events in orders that don’t really make sense. I’m trying to go over these a few at a time to see if I can track down the criteria (or lack thereof) that could be causing these issues.

New Stuff

I’m trying to get some actual new content-related stuff in as well. I wouldn’t expect anything terribly exciting story-wise, but I’ve been looking mainly at some “quality of life” improvements.

Some things I’m trying to improve on include:

  • Meeting more of the NPCs earlier in the game, without needing to work a specific job.
  • A special bar/bartender option at the beginning of club/beach/poolside free-time events.
  • Possible options for sunbathing or swimming during free-time events.
  • Scheduling a haircut even if you’re not using Cyn’s services.
